Chinese Cultural School
To broaden understanding of Chinese heritage among the youth population, BCA established the Chinese Cultural School in Sunset Park and Sheepshead Bay where students are taught how to read and write the Chinese language as well as about traditional Chinese customs and their histories. Since its establishment in 1997, the school has grown significantly, thriving thanks to tremendous community support. It has become a model language school and received recognition from the City Council in October 2001. Class offerings have continuously expanded and there are now over 500 students enrolled, including a growing number of non-Chinese students. The Chinese Cultural School provides the following activities:
- Mandarin classes for Chinese reading and writing
- Understanding and appreciation of Chinese heritage and culture
- Celebration of Chinese festivals
